The new freeride poles for winter 2024-25

Cober srl

Our freeride poles have earned a special reputation over time among enthusiasts of the discipline. Pyrus, XL, and PowPow have become the top choice within the freeride community, thanks to their comfort, excellent weight-to-strength ratio, and contemporary design.

Working closely with our crew of freeriders has made us realise that there are specific needs and highly personal preferences among those who ski in deep powder“, explains Alice Covini, Global Sales Manager at Cober. “Some freeriders rely more on ski lifts and only make short approaches using skins, for whom a single-piece pole with an increased diameter is essential to achieve the best balance between weight and durability. Then there are those who spend long ascents on skins and have asked us for a strong yet adjustable pole, allowing them to adapt it to different phases of the climb and descent or attach it to their backpack during alpine sections. With our new XL Piggie and PowBro, we are responding precisely to these two different approaches to freeride skiing“.

The new releases for the 2024-25 winter season expand Cober’s freeride range with two new colour options. The legendary XL is now available in the XL Piggie version, featuring a black design with magenta pink accents while maintaining the premium technical features of the XL: an 18mm reinforced Ergal 7075 aerospace aluminium shaft and an extended foam grip, allowing for an asymmetrical hold on the poles during traverses with skins, along with a removable neoprene strap.

PowPow, the height-adjustable freeride pole introduced in winter 2023, now has a “brother” in a new orange-blue colourway. PowBro shares the same successful technical features as PowPow, including a long ergonomic foam grip and the exclusive bi-material CamLock closure, which ensures a secure hold thanks to its rubber contact with the shaft. Both XL Piggie and PowBro come equipped with a large 92mm basket, ideal for stability in deep snow.
